Project Name, Contract Number: GNHWPCA Force Main Relocation, State Project No. 92-613

Project Area: Under New Haven Harbor just north of the Existing Q-Bridge

Project Scope: The GNHWPCA Force Main Relocation Contract was completed on schedule on April 22, 2009. The completion of the project which constructed new force mains away from the bridge to the north and abandoned the existing mains in place. This eliminates the need to protect and monitor the force mains under the harbor and eliminates restrictions on the contractor's construction sequencing and operations including barge setup and mooring during construction of the new SB Q-Bridge Main Span and East Approach Structure in Contract B.

The new force mains were installed under the New Haven Harbor using directional drilling techniques to speed construction and minimize impacts to the Quinnipiac River.
