Project Name, Contract Number: Contract B, State Project No. 92-532
Project Area: Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge
Project Scope: Contract B is located in New Haven and consists of the replacement of the existing Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Q-Bridge) with a new extradosed 10 lane signature bridge. The project encompasses approximately 1,300 meters (0.8 miles) of I-95 from the western project limit at the abutment at East Street and Hamilton Street to the eastern project limit at the Stiles Street abutment. Five travel lanes will be provided in each direction from the bridges west approach to a reconfigured/combined Woodward Avenue/Stiles Street interchange at the east approach. The new Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge will be extended to include the Stiles Street overpass. Full shoulders, a new median barrier, drainage, signing, and lighting will be provided throughout the project.

Contract Award: July 31, 2009 Notice to Proceed - Part 1 (Administrative) was issued September 14, 2009. Preconstruction Meeting was held on September 15, 2009. Construction Start: November 2009. Notice to Proceed-Part 2 (Construction) was issued November 27, 2009. Construction Complete: June 30, 2015.

Construction activities for May 2010 included:

Continued concrete placement at tower legs and columns.

Installed Project Camera (future MS) on the Tomlinson Bridge East Tower.

Commenced removal of existing sheet piling between P&W Railroad and the closed off-ramp to Stiles Street.

Began drilled shafts along Forbes Avenue and Waterfront Street.
